The new rules allow institutions, i.e. banks, credit market companies and investment firms, to apply for consent to use an advanced measurement approach in order to calculate the capital requirement for operational risk. This section of the directive entered into force on 1 January 2008. An institution which wishes to use an advanced measurement approach can now submit its application to Finansinspektionen.
