Measuring Operational Risk

Updated information, 1 September 2009:
This seminar is now fully booked. However, we will continue to accept registrations if places should become available. FI may possibly hold another seminar in the near future so please let us know if you are interested.

Finansinspektionen will organise a seminar on operational risk on 29 September 2009 at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm.

The objective is to show different interested parties – from managerial bodies and boards of directors in financial companies to risk managers, compliance officers, supervisors, actuaries, regulators and the financial press – the importance of measuring and managing financial exposure towards operational risk.

Experience shows that operational losses can be tripled or more in certain business areas during financial turmoil. Risk transformation may lead to unpleasant and unexpected losses. When credit risk is transformed to operational risk, causing rumours to spread, a liquidity crisis is likely to follow. The seminar will also deal with problems of evaluated risk, for example products with a different risk level than they appear to have, as in subprime vs. covered bonds.

The seminar will be held in English.
