International cooperation

Finansinspektionen participates actively in EU cooperations, such as the Banking Advisory Committee (BAC), an advisory body on banking issues to the European Commission. The Insurance Committee (IC) is the corresponding committee for insurance and securities.

Within the EU we participate in the following committees:

  • The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR)
  • Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS)
  • The Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS)

We also participate in several global supervisory bodies:

  • The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS)
  • The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO)
  • The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS)

Cross-sector financial conglomerates are common today, i.e. to combine banks, insurance companies and securities companies in a single corporate group. Therefore, the BCBS, IOSCO and IAIS established The Joint Forum to deal with issues common to the banking, securities and insurance sectors, including the regulation of financial conglomerates.
