About Finansinspektionen
The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finansinspektionen, is a public authority. Our role is to promote stability and efficiency in the financial system as well as to ensure an effective consumer protection. We authorise, supervise and monitor all companies operating in Swedish financial markets. Finansinspektionen is accountable to the Ministry of Finance.
Under our supervision
We have a public record of financial institutions, individuals and other bodies that fall under our regulatory jurisdiction. Our register allows for searches within Sweden as well as Swedish financial institutions with activities outside Sweden.

Our history
Finansinspektionen was established in 1991 with the aim of creating a single integrated regulator covering banking, securities and insurance. This was made possible through the merger of the former banking and insurance supervisory bodies.
