Proposal to repeal regulations regarding MREL reporting

FI proposes that the regulations (FFFS 2019:1) regarding periodic reporting of data on the minimum requirement for own funds and eligible liabilities (MREL) be repealed.

The reason the regulations need to be repealed is that new rules on periodic supervisory reporting have been prepared as part of the framework for the implementation of an amendment directive to the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive. For Swedish firms, the reporting will be regulated through regulations issued by the Swedish National Debt Office and the implementing regulation from the European Commission. When the new rules go into effect, FI no longer needs to have regulations in this area since the authority will have access to the information the firms submit through the new supervisory reporting.

FI proposes that the regulations be repealed on 1 March 2022. This means that the last reporting date will be 11 February 2022 and refer to data with the reference date 31 December 2021.
